Helen McFarland
At school Art was always
my best subject, and I was excited to be offered a place at Bristol College of Art to do a degree in
Illustration.
After College I taught Crafts to school children in the Ulster American Folk Park
for a few years. I have been exhibiting paintings for many years and I keep a record of each
painting. I have had four solo exhibitions in Tyrone, and my work is in several private collections including
Sir Patrick Mayhew and the Duke of Abercorn.
Although watercolour painting has always come naturally
I am keen to experiment with oils. My favourite subjects are children, gardens and musicians. I particularly
like the way 'atmosphere' can be created with watercolours.
