GLYNIS R. BURNS 

              Glynis Burns was born in Belfast in 1966. She gained a B.A.(Hons) degree in Fine Art from the University of Ulster in 1989, but would attribute much better of her knowledge of painting to her father, Irish landscape artist W.H. Burns.

 Her work features people and combines many other elements, namely love of colour and pattern, social interactions, dance, music, nature and the outdoors. These are balanced within an organised compositional whole, trying to obtain a mystique in the finished work almost as if a question is being asked.

 Being fascinated by the total interdependence of everything on Earth she often brings together many aspects of nature in the one painting. She also enjoys depicting nonsensical 'notions' in her work and would describe using these as 'acts of total self-indulgence.

 As well as having work in many private collections Glynis has exhibited in annual group exhibitions including the Royal Ulster Academy, Ulster Woman Artists and the Royal Ulster Academy Association.She also held an exhibition with her mother and sister called 'Three of a kind' at Ards Arts Centre in 1990.
